Police in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district arrested 10 Bangladeshi nationals from various police stations. These individuals, hailing from Chapai Nawabganj and Rajshahi districts in Bangladesh, had been working in India using fake Indian identity cards. The arrests were made as they attempted to return to Bangladesh.
The arrested individuals were sent to a holding center in Lalgola. They had entered India illegally through brokers and had been working as migrant laborers in different parts of the country. The police apprehended seven Bangladeshis from Lalgola and one from Bhagwangola, all of whom had been residing in India for some time.
These individuals had crossed the border around six months ago and were working as construction workers in southern India. After returning to Lalgola, they were caught by the police. The authorities discovered their plan to return to Bangladesh and intervened, leading to their arrest.
The arrested Bangladeshi nationals admitted to illegally entering India for work and using fake identities. They are now in custody and will be repatriated to Bangladesh through the proper legal channels.
