In a tragic incident, 14-year-old Srinanda from Kerala, who disappeared while trekking with her parents in Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka, has been discovered deceased in a mountain gorge. She went missing from the Chandradrona mountain range and was last seen in the Manikyadhara region. Despite extensive search efforts, her body was found 2,000 feet below the location where she was last seen.
Authorities, including the Anti-Naxal Force (ANF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police teams, and Fire and Emergency Services personnel, conducted a thorough search operation using drones and thermal cameras due to the challenging terrain. Officials are investigating all possibilities, including whether she fell from the mountain or if there are other factors involved.
Home Minister G. Parameshwara commented on the case before the recovery of the body, mentioning various speculations surrounding the girl’s disappearance. The victim had been on a trip with her family to Karnataka, visiting Hampi and Chikkamagaluru, where she went missing near a waterfall in the Manikyadhara area. Police are examining the case from all angles, with further investigations ongoing.
