17-year-old Lilli Tagger achieved a stunning comeback victory against Darja Semenistaja, the 2024 Mumbai Open champion and current second seed, in the quarterfinal of the Mumbai Open WTA 125K Series at the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA). Meanwhile, Mananchaya Sawangkaew, Lanlana Tararudee, and Fangran Tian progressed to the singles draw semi-finals, with Nicole Fossa Huergo and Mananchaya Sawangkaew securing a spot in the doubles final.
The day’s events commenced with Mananchaya Sawangkaew, last season’s runner-up, defeating ninth seed Tatiana Prozorova in straight sets after Prozorova struggled to find her form. Despite a strong start in the second set, Prozorova failed to capitalize on key moments, ultimately losing 6-1, 6-4.
In another exciting match, Lanlana Tararudee, ranked 129th globally, overcame a first-set loss to triumph over Leolia Jeanjean in three sets, winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 after a 2-hour and 17-minute battle. Fangran Tian continued her impressive run by defeating Mei Yamaguchi in a thrilling 2-hour 38-minute match, winning 6-2, 2-6, 6-2. In the doubles, Nicole Fossa Huergo and Mananchaya Sawangkaew secured a hard-fought victory against Hiroko Kuwata and Park So-hyun, earning a spot in the final with a 6-4, 6-7 (7-4), (10-5) win.
