A 19-year-old woman from Agripada in Mumbai has lodged a police complaint accusing a colleague of harassment, leading to the arrest of the accused. The situation has caused tension in the locality, prompting heightened police scrutiny and security measures. The victim, employed as a telecaller in Mahalakshmi, alleged that the accused, after obtaining her contact details from a company WhatsApp group, began sending inappropriate content.
The victim revealed that despite minimal interaction at work, the accused started sending vulgar videos and photos after acquiring her number. She expressed distress over his remarks about religious matters and marriage. The accused, identified as Ashraf Siddiqui, was apprehended by the police following the filing of the FIR. Tracking his location initially, officials detained him for questioning and confiscated his mobile phone for investigation. Subsequently, he was formally arrested and is expected to undergo a medical examination before facing court proceedings.
In response to the incident, local residents congregated outside the police station, expressing concerns over similar occurrences elsewhere. One resident drew comparisons to a recent incident in Nashik, labeling it as “corporate jihad.” Another resident highlighted a case in Amravati involving sexual harassment and blackmail, urging authorities to take stringent action. The victim’s family has extended support to the complaint, with police authorities ensuring a thorough investigation. Digital evidence, including messages and call records, is under scrutiny to establish a timeline of events.
