Kairav Gandhi, the 24-year-old son of well-known businessman Devang Gandhi from Jamshedpur, who was kidnapped 14 days ago, has been safely rescued from his captors. He returned to his residence in Jamshedpur around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Police reported that he was found between Hazaribagh in Jharkhand and Gaya in Bihar.
Jamshedpur SSP Piyush Pandey confirmed the successful recovery of the businessman’s son, emphasizing that the top priority of the police was ensuring the victim’s safety, which has been achieved. Efforts including raids and technical investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the involved criminals.
Kairav Gandhi, residing in Jamshedpur’s CH area, was abducted on January 13 while on his way to SBI Bank in Bistupur and then to his company in Adityapur. His family received a ransom demand of initially Rs 5 crore, which later escalated to Rs 10 crore. In response to the severity of the situation, the Jharkhand Police formed seven Special Investigation Teams (SITs) to conduct raids across Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, and Odisha.
Jharkhand’s Director General of Police (DGP) Tadasha Mishra visited Jamshedpur recently to oversee the progress of the investigation into the kidnapping case. The safe return of Kairav Gandhi has brought relief to the entire city, although it remains unclear whether his release was solely due to police efforts or involved family interventions. Authorities may soon provide further details on the case in a press conference.
