The Adur Police in Haveri district have filed an FIR against 26 individuals following a clash that erupted during the Kara Hunnime festival in Naregal village. The dispute arose over the bursting of firecrackers near a mosque during a bull procession, leading to injuries to six people. Among those accused are individuals named Khwaja, Bhashasab, Mehboob Ali, and Mahboobsab.
Home Minister Priyank Kharge commented on the incident, stating that the violence occurred during a youth gathering near the mosque. The police are actively investigating the matter, with the injured individuals receiving medical treatment. The case has been registered under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further inquiries are ongoing.
Tension gripped Naregal village post the incident, prompting heightened security measures by the police to prevent further disturbances. The authorities are delving into the root cause of the clash, the events leading to the violence, and the roles played by those involved. The situation is currently under control, and the public has been urged to maintain peace and avoid spreading rumors.
In response to the violence, the Adur Police have bolstered security in Naregal village, deploying over 20 personnel to ensure peace. Investigations have indicated that the annual bull-running event, part of the Kara Hunnime festival tradition, triggered the conflict. Allegedly, objections to firecrackers near the mosque by an individual named Bhashasab Gowndi may have sparked the clash, which is under police scrutiny.
The political sphere has also been impacted, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders reacting strongly to the situation. BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra visited the village and met with the injured at the district hospital, emphasizing the seriousness of the matter.
