The 35th Mango Festival, hosted by Delhi Tourism at Dilli Haat, Janakpuri, has commenced, offering a diverse array of over 400 types of mangoes to visitors. This three-day event, running until Sunday from noon to 9 p.m., includes mango-eating contests for both men and women, along with cultural performances. The festival, a significant attraction in Delhi’s tourism scene, also presents magic shows that captivate mango enthusiasts from India and beyond.
Apart from the exhibition of mango types such as Mallika, Malda, Sindoori, Kesar, and Amrapali, the festival boasts various stalls vending fruits and mango-based goods. Throughout the festival, there are mango-eating contests for all, while children engage in activities like slogan writing and quizzes. Attendees can also visit a designated selfie spot for photos and enjoy traditional dance performances by folk artists.
An official emphasized the Delhi government’s initiative to invite mango cultivators nationwide to the festival, providing them with a platform for sales. The event showcases a vibrant display of rare and delectable mango varieties and products, enhancing the city with the colors of the beloved fruit. Last year, Delhi Tourism Minister Mishra participated in the festival, joining farmers and traders from across the country to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’.
