As many as 42 cadres of CPI (Maoist), including People’s Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA) Battalion Commander Sodi Malla alias Keshal, surrendered before Telangana Police. The surrendered individuals also handed over 36 firearms and 800 grams of gold. Among the surrendering Maoists were members of PLGA, Telangana State Committee (TSC), and Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee (DKSZC).
The surrendered cadres included key figures like PLGA Battalion in charge Sodi Malla alias Keshal, State Committee Member Jayashankar, and others. Telangana Police received a total of 36 firearms, along with ammunition and gold biscuits, as part of the surrender process. The surrender of these Maoist leaders has effectively neutralized the armed formations of CPI (Maoist) in Telangana.
The Director General of Police (DGP) highlighted the significance of these surrenders in dismantling the armed structures of the CPI (Maoist). With the surrender of key leaders, including those from the Telangana State Committee, the armed presence of the Maoists in the region has been eliminated. The surrendered cadres will receive rewards and rehabilitation benefits as per government policies.
The surrender of 42 underground CPI (Maoist) cadres, along with a significant cache of weapons, has resulted in a total eligible reward amount of Rs 1.93 crore. The Telangana government’s rehabilitation policy ensures financial incentives for the surrendered cadres. The DGP praised the efforts of the Special Intelligence Branch for their role in facilitating these surrenders and dismantling the Maoist organization in the state.
