An 80-year-old man, identified as Mylarappa, passed away in a fire that erupted at his residence in Mailasandra, Bengaluru. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday under the Kengeri police limits. Mylarappa, a resident of Thimmarayappa Circle, was living alone in a separate house adjacent to his granddaughter’s residence, where he was being cared for due to his physical limitations.

The fire broke out between 2 am and 2.30 am on February 19 and was reported around 5 am. Mylarappa’s granddaughter, Ramya, who lived nearby, lodged a complaint with the police. She mentioned in her statement that her grandfather, who had previously undergone leg amputation, was immobile and required assistance for daily activities.

Ramya recounted that on the night of February 18, after providing dinner to Mylarappa, she returned home. Later, a relative informed them about the fire engulfing Mylarappa’s house around 2.20 am. Despite efforts to extinguish the flames, Mylarappa suffered fatal burn injuries. The police have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
