Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Gujarat unit president, Isudan Gadhvi, revealed that the party has decided not to participate in the Umreth by-election. Instead, they will channel their efforts towards the upcoming local body elections. Gadhvi challenged the Congress to directly confront the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the political arena.
Gadhvi emphasized AAP’s commitment to concentrating solely on the local body elections, aiming for a head-to-head battle between the BJP and Congress. He highlighted the party’s role in creating a sense of unease within the BJP, alleging that BJP candidates are facing difficulties in engaging with voters. According to Gadhvi, AAP has emerged as a beacon of hope and trust for the public.
Expressing confidence in AAP’s prospects, Gadhvi stated that the party is poised to secure the mayor’s position in Surat. He introduced Manoj Sorathiya as the party’s key contender in Surat, affirming that Sorathiya will represent the people of Surat in the elections.
Gadhvi raised concerns about the alleged misuse of state machinery against AAP, claiming that the police seem to be acting against the party’s interests. He pointed out instances of intimidation, false FIRs, and attempts to coerce AAP candidates into withdrawing from the electoral race. Gadhvi also accused the authorities of pressuring party leaders and workers through threats and legal actions.
