In a significant development, Gaya Police have captured Mohan Manjhi, a well-known criminal with a reward of Rs 50,000, along with his associate Sonu Manjhi. The duo, who had been evading authorities for an extended period, faced charges related to serious offenses such as murder, extortion, and Arms Act violations.

Dharmendra Bharti, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) 2 of Gaya Sadar, hailed the apprehension as a major victory in the crackdown on criminal activities in the district. Acting on orders from the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), law enforcement teams conducted an extensive search and verification operation across the region.

Following a tip-off that Mohan and Sonu Manjhi had returned from Kolkata and were en route to the Sarbadaha block, the police initiated a targeted operation near the Bodh Gaya intersection. Despite attempting to escape upon being signaled to halt, both suspects were pursued and successfully captured by the authorities.

After being taken into custody, the accused confessed during interrogation to their involvement in a fatal shooting incident that occurred the previous year. Bharti revealed that while four other suspects in the case had been previously apprehended, Mohan and Sonu Manjhi had been on the run. The police are actively pursuing other absconding individuals associated with the case.

Legal proceedings are underway to remand the arrested individuals in judicial custody. Both suspects were presented before the district court, which ordered them into judicial custody. The police emphasized their dedication to upholding law and order, vowing to maintain stringent actions against criminal elements in the area.
