Aam Aadmi Party’s Delhi President, Saurabh Bharadwaj, stated that the recent rally at Jantar Mantar aimed to highlight the plight of dismissed contractual workers and condemn what he called the BJP’s “vendetta politics.” Emphasizing that it was a rally and not a protest, Bharadwaj mentioned the presence of key party leaders like Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann. The event marked Kejriwal’s first public appearance since being cleared in the liquor policy case.
Police presence was noticeable in and around the venue to ensure security and crowd management. Bharadwaj reiterated that the gathering was a rally, not a protest, and clarified the party’s intention to speak out against the removal of numerous young workers from various positions. Gopal Rai, another AAP leader, highlighted that the rally signaled a step up in the party’s political activities, focusing on fighting for Delhi’s rights with integrity.
The rally elicited strong responses from BJP leaders and their associates, with Bihar Minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal noting that legal proceedings involving AAP leaders were still pending before the High Court. In contrast, MLC Danish Azad Ansari from Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, criticized Kejriwal’s rally as a diversion tactic, accusing the AAP of misleading the public. The event drew attendees from Delhi and neighboring states, with Kejriwal expected to outline the party’s future political strategies and address ongoing legal and political challenges.
