Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Malvinder Singh Kang has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging strict action against Delhi minister Kapil Mishra for circulating a doctored video with objectionable remarks about Sikh Gurus. Kang highlighted forensic evidence from Punjab and Delhi proving the video’s falsity, emphasizing that the accused words were never spoken by Atishi.
Kang accused Mishra of intentionally provoking outrage and politicizing Sikh religious sentiments through the video, calling it a deliberate act of blasphemy. He pointed out the timing during the Sikh community’s commemoration of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom anniversary, condemning the act as a moral transgression.
The MP appealed to PM Modi for decisive action against Mishra, seeking his removal from all positions of authority and a public denunciation of his actions. Kang stressed the historical significance of the Sikh Gurus’ sacrifices for the nation’s values and urged Modi to uphold justice and moral clarity in modern India.
The controversy arose during the Winter Session of the Delhi Assembly when BJP leaders, including Mishra, shared the video alleging derogatory remarks by Atishi about the Guru. Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta later confirmed that the video was not doctored, announcing a CBI probe into the matter.
