More than 24 hours after being heckled and assaulted in Sonarpur, West Bengal, Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee spoke out, labeling the incident as an “assault on democracy.” Following this, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed solidarity with Banerjee on social media.
In response to Kejriwal’s message, Abhishek Banerjee thanked all those who supported him. He emphasized that the attack was not just on him but on democracy itself, stating it reflects a troubling pattern under the current BJP regime.
Banerjee asserted that the incident has only strengthened his determination to fight against the BJP. He vowed to continue the struggle for the people of India, undeterred by intimidation or violence.
Abhishek Banerjee’s aunt, former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, also condemned the attacks on her nephew and another Trinamool Congress member. She highlighted the alleged assaults by BJP supporters and expressed concern over the incidents.
