Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen shone with half-centuries, propelling Sunrisers Hyderabad to a total of 194/9 in their 20 overs against Chennai Super Kings in the 27th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The Sunrisers started steadily before picking up the pace, with Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head showcasing good form, particularly during the power-play overs.
Abhishek Sharma’s aggressive batting in the fifth over, where he scored 25 runs off Matthew Short, boosted Sunrisers Hyderabad to 63/0 in just five overs. However, Chennai Super Kings fought back strongly in the sixth over, dismissing Head and SRH captain Ishan Kishan in quick succession, leaving the hosts at 75/2 by the end of the power-play. Abhishek Sharma’s explosive innings of 59 runs off 22 balls, featuring six fours and four sixes, came to an end in the eighth over.
Despite losing wickets, Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy stabilized Sunrisers’ innings with a brisk 35-run partnership off 22 balls. Klaasen then took charge, reaching his third fifty of the season in 32 balls. His innings of 59 runs off 39 balls, including six fours and two sixes, ended in the 18th over. Late contributions from Shivam Kumar helped Sunrisers push towards the 200-run mark, but consistent wickets in the final overs restricted them.
Chennai Super Kings’ bowlers Jamie Overton and Anshul Kamboj stood out, each claiming three wickets, while Mukesh Choudhary took one wicket.
