Actor-turned-politician Joseph Vijay has called off his campaign rally in Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu, scheduled to start at 2 P.M. on Saturday, citing safety worries. This cancellation, part of a day-long campaign in the district, comes amidst heightened election activities in Tamil Nadu, with leaders campaigning vigorously to secure voter backing.
Vijay, contesting his maiden election as the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader, has been actively campaigning in various districts recently. Starting from Perambur in Chennai, he has addressed gatherings in Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Karaikudi, drawing significant crowds at his events.
Despite initially seeking permission for campaign events at four locations in Cuddalore district, the police had granted approval with conditions. However, the campaign was suddenly called off, with safety concerns arising following minor incidents during Vijay’s recent campaign travels in southern districts.
The decision to cancel the rally has sparked mixed reactions, with some criticizing the move for potential political implications, while Vijay’s supporters emphasize the importance of prioritizing the safety of the leader and campaign team during the intense election period.
