Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is set to visit France and Germany for a three-day trip starting Sunday. The purpose of the visit is to assess bilateral cooperation across various sectors and engage in discussions on global and regional developments. This visit comes after recent trips by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron to India earlier this year.
During his visit, Misri will co-chair the India-France Foreign Office Consultations in Paris with the Secretary General of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Discussions will encompass areas such as defence, civil nuclear energy, space, cyber and digital, AI, innovation, and people-to-people exchanges. The visit will also include talks on global and regional issues.
In Berlin, Misri will co-chair the India-Germany Foreign Office Consultations with the State Secretary of the German Foreign Office. The discussions will cover a wide range of cooperation domains, including trade, investments, defence, technology, green energy, development cooperation, education, and people-to-people ties. The visit will also involve meetings with other dignitaries and senior government officials in both countries.
Misri’s upcoming visit follows his recent trip to Washington, where he focused on enhancing cooperation between India and the United States in various sectors like trade, defence, and technology. The engagements in the US led to expanded cooperation in areas such as energy, critical technologies, and defence, indicating a strengthening strategic alignment between the two nations.
