Actor Rajpal Yadav, convicted in a cheque bounce case by the Delhi High Court, has been given a final opportunity by the court. The court questioned Yadav about the loan, to which he affirmed positively. Despite multiple chances given to him, the court noted his failure to comply with the directives.
During the court proceedings, Yadav mentioned that in 2016, he was instructed to pay a sum of Rs 10 crore 40 lakh. He presented papers showing a friend’s property worth Rs 28 crore and stated that he had already repaid the borrowed amount. The actor was accused by Murli Projects Pvt Ltd for defaulting on repayment.
Yadav argued in court that the other party was not interested in the money but wanted him imprisoned. He emphasized that he had served his jail term and had fulfilled all legal obligations. His lawyer informed that a regular bail application had been filed, with an interim bail expiring on March 18. Notably, Rs. 4.25 crore has been paid to Murli Projects Pvt Ltd, and a demand draft of Rs. 25 lakh is set to be issued.
The court reiterated to Yadav that this was the final opportunity to settle the financial dispute, emphasizing that compliance would conclude the case. The actor faced legal issues under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, related to a cheque bounce case, which incurs criminal liability and penalties for dishonoured cheques due to insufficient funds.
