Actor Tim Curry, known for iconic villainous roles like Pennywise in It and Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, recently shared his career regrets. At The Academy’s Margaret Herrick Library, Curry discussed missing out on certain roles he auditioned for. One such role was Marv in Home Alone, which went to Daniel Stern despite Curry meeting the director, Chris Columbus.
Curry also revealed trying out for Malcolm in Jurassic Park, a role eventually played by Jeff Goldblum. Additionally, he was considered for Scar in The Lion King, a part that Jeremy Irons portrayed. Despite these near misses, Curry humorously mentioned his satisfaction in landing a role in Home Alone 2: Lost In New York.
In a candid moment, Curry expressed his disappointment at not being able to audition for the role of Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs. Despite his desire, his agent couldn’t secure him an audition, and the role went to Anthony Hopkins, whom Curry praised for his performance.
