Adani Energy Solutions Ltd secured a Rs 8,500 crore inter-state transmission project in Andhra Pradesh to supply power to upcoming Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia projects in Vizag, meeting a demand of 4,500 MW. The project, awarded through a competitive bidding framework, is set to be completed in 30 months, as per the company’s announcement.
CEO of Adani Energy Solutions Ltd, Kandarp Patel, highlighted the significance of the Vizag transmission project in supporting India’s industrial growth and the development of green hydrogen and green ammonia capacity in Andhra Pradesh. The project will also enhance the grid for the growing digital infrastructure demand in the Pendurthi–Vizag region.
Vizag is becoming a key digital infrastructure hub in India, with AI developments, data centers, subsea connectivity, logistics, clean energy, and industrial infrastructure projects in the pipeline. AESL aims to build resilient transmission networks to facilitate sustainable growth as India moves towards a cleaner, technology-focused economy.
The project will cater to the increasing load requirements in the Pendurthi–Vizag region, particularly with the rise of data centers and digital infrastructure investments. It will operate under the Special Purpose Vehicle, Vizag Power Transmission Ltd, and will expand AESL’s transmission network by adding 1,582 ckm of transmission lines and 10,500 MVA of transformation capacity.
AESL emphasized the importance of robust transmission infrastructure to support the region’s green hydrogen generation and data center expansions, ensuring power availability, grid stability, and long-term industrial competitiveness.
