Afghanistan’s Ministry of National Defence has accused the Pakistani military regime of conducting lethal airstrikes in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces, leading to civilian casualties. The strikes reportedly hit a madrasa and multiple homes, resulting in the deaths and injuries of numerous civilians, including women and children. Kabul has denounced these actions as violations of Afghan airspace and part of a series of alleged Pakistani aggressions.

The Afghan Ministry strongly condemned the attacks, labeling them as a blatant disregard for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and a violation of international law, good neighborly principles, and Islamic values. It emphasized that protecting the country’s sovereignty and its people is both a religious duty and a national obligation, warning of a measured response in due course. The Ministry criticized the Pakistani military for targeting civilians and religious sites, attributing these actions to intelligence and security failures within the Pakistani military.

The International Human Rights Foundation (IHRF) expressed alarm over a confirmed airstrike in Nangarhar’s Behsud district, where a Pakistani military attack on a civilian residence resulted in the tragic deaths of 16 family members. The victims, spanning different generations from infants to elderly individuals, suffered a devastating loss. IHRF called for an immediate international investigation into the incident and demanded accountability for those responsible for ordering and executing the attack.

IHRF also urged for unimpeded humanitarian access to the affected families in Behsud and emphasized the importance of respecting the rights and lives of Afghan civilians. The foundation stood in solidarity with the people of Afghanistan, advocating for justice and transparency in addressing the airstrike’s aftermath.
