Afghan counter-narcotics police confiscated 42 kg of methamphetamine in an intelligence-led operation in Faryab province. The drugs, originating from Herat province, were found hidden in a vehicle en route to Balkh province. One suspect has been arrested in connection with the seizure and is under investigation.

The recent drug bust follows a separate operation in Takhar province where 403 kg of opium were seized, leading to the arrest of two individuals. These efforts highlight the continuous actions by Afghan security forces to disrupt major drug trafficking routes in the northern regions. Additionally, authorities in Daykundi province detained over 100 drug-addicted individuals for rehabilitation.

The Ministry of Interior Affairs emphasized its commitment to providing medical treatment for drug addicts while combating illegal drug activities. Efforts are being made to eradicate drug production and trafficking in Afghanistan. Over the past five years, thousands of drug-addicted Afghans, including women and children, have been rehabilitated and reintegrated into society.

In a separate incident, the counter-narcotics police in Nimroz province seized a significant amount of illegal substances, including 84 kg of opium and 130 kg of methamphetamine. Several individuals were arrested for their involvement in drug smuggling activities in the region.
