Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan pointed out that the Gujarat Titans (GT) have struggled with their middle-order batting in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Despite this weakness, Rashid stressed the importance of focusing on strengths to maintain momentum rather than dwelling on flaws. The team’s middle order has notably underperformed throughout the season, with the top-order batsmen like Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler carrying the bulk of the scoring load.
Rashid Khan, speaking to Jio Hotstar, acknowledged that every team in the IPL faces weaknesses in various aspects of their game. He emphasized the need for the middle-order batsmen, including himself, to capitalize on the limited opportunities they receive, especially during run chases. Rashid highlighted the significance of even small contributions, suggesting that scoring 15-20 runs in a short span can have a significant impact on the team’s performance.
The focus for Gujarat Titans, according to Rashid, remains on delivering disciplined bowling performances to restrict opposition teams to low scores. He noted that the team’s strong bowling lineup sets them apart from others in the competition, allowing them to make batting easier for their own side. Rashid’s exceptional bowling performance of 2-19 played a crucial role in GT’s successful containment of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), who were bowled out for 155 runs in 19.2 overs.
Rashid Khan reflected on his match-winning performance, emphasizing the importance of bowling in the right areas and maintaining a good economy rate, particularly during the middle overs. By focusing on consistently hitting the right lengths, Rashid was able to minimize poor deliveries and contribute effectively to his team’s success. His disciplined approach and accuracy proved instrumental in Gujarat Titans’ comfortable chase of the target set by RCB.
