The Ahmedabad City Crime Branch apprehended a man wanted in a prior narcotics case and his accomplice after seizing 9.8 kg of suspected ganja worth Rs 4.9 lakh from an auto-rickshaw in the city. Officers, as part of an anti-narcotics operation, acted on specific information about contraband movement. The interception occurred near the Adinath Stone warehouse on the CTM Narol-Naroda Road.
The search of the auto-rickshaw led to the discovery of 9.8 kg of alleged ganja valued at Rs 4.9 lakh, along with other items, totaling Rs 5,60,290. The arrested individuals are Israyalkhan Khan, 33, from Akola city, Maharashtra, and Mohammed Sajid Kamruddin Pathan, 42, from Ramol area in Ahmedabad. Israyalkhan was already a wanted individual in a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Danilimda Police Station.
Israyalkhan faces charges under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(2)(B), and 29 of the NDPS Act in the Danilimda Police Station case. Another suspect, Mohsin Baba of Akola city, has been named as wanted in the ongoing investigation. A new case under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(2)(B), and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) Police Station. Legal actions have been initiated against the arrested individuals as per the NDPS Act provisions.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the origin of the seized contraband, its intended destination, and any potential involvement of other individuals in the alleged narcotics network.
