The Ahmedabad Crime Branch, during the remand of an accused in a courier-based drug trafficking case, discovered an additional 329.55 grams of mephedrone. This brings the total seizure in the investigation to 701.10 grams of the synthetic narcotic, valued at Rs 70.11 lakh. The accused, Asuram alias Ashokkumar Bhadu, had earlier been arrested under the NDPS Act and was found with 371.55 grams of mephedrone.
Following the interrogation of the accused, it was revealed that he resided in a rented room in Odhav area. A search of his premises led to the recovery of more mephedrone, cash, and various items linked to the operation. The total value of the property seized in the investigation has now reached Rs 70.46 lakh, including the cash and recovered materials.
DCP (Crime) Ajit Rajian mentioned that the drugs were being procured from Rajasthan and distributed through courier outlets in Bapunagar area. The accused used courier services to transport drugs to various cities, including Bengaluru, to avoid detection. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the source of the narcotics and identify others involved in the trafficking network.
