The Ahmedabad Division of Western Railway celebrated the 12th International Yoga Day by introducing yoga sessions on moving Vande Bharat Express trains. Supervised by Divisional Railway Manager Ved Prakash, the initiative included yoga practices for passengers while the trains were in motion. The division organized yoga sessions at key railway locations and extended the program to four Vande Bharat Express services.
Passengers on Vande Bharat trains participated in yoga exercises guided through the onboard audio system. Volunteers in each coach assisted passengers in performing light exercises like neck, shoulder, wrist, and arm rotations, along with chanting ‘Om’ and brief meditation practices. The sessions were designed to make yoga accessible during train travel, allowing passengers to join without leaving their seats.
The main yoga program took place at the Community Hall in Sabarmati, where yoga instructors led training sessions for railway officers, employees, and other personnel. The program followed the Common Yoga Protocol, including various yoga poses, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques. Additionally, similar yoga sessions were held at different locations, promoting wellness and regular yoga practice among railway employees and the public.
Yoga sessions were also conducted at the Old Railway Institute in Sabarmati, the Railway Institute in Kankaria, and community halls in Gandhidham and Viramgam. The division emphasized the theme of “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” for this year’s International Yoga Day, encouraging staff and passengers to incorporate yoga into their daily routines for improved physical and mental well-being.
