The Ahmedabad Division of Western Railway has finished various monsoon preparedness tasks to ensure safe train operations during the rainy season. This includes cleaning 132 kilometers of side drains, installing 260 pumps at vulnerable road underbridges, and positioning emergency stocks of ballast and quarry dust. The measures were discussed at a meeting led by Divisional Railway Manager Ved Prakash, with former Railway Board Member Anil Kumar Khandelwal in attendance.
Senior divisional officers and heads of departments responsible for monsoon management reviewed the preparations for potential challenges. The division emphasized the importance of maintaining passenger safety and reliable train services. Ved Prakash highlighted the comprehensive preparations made by the Ahmedabad Division to ensure uninterrupted train operations during the monsoon. Tracks, bridges, drains, and culverts are inspected and cleaned before the rainy season, with special attention given to preventing waterlogging at stations and railway yards.
To strengthen the drainage network, 132 kilometers of side drains have been cleaned, and tree cutting and trimming have been conducted at 190 locations. Additionally, 260 pumps have been installed at Road Under Bridges to address waterlogging issues. Emergency preparedness was a key focus, with adequate stocks of ballast and quarry dust positioned strategically. The division is committed to maintaining passenger safety and ensuring uninterrupted train operations throughout the monsoon season.
