The Ahmedabad Crime Branch in Gujarat uncovered a drug trafficking network that utilized courier services to transport mephedrone consignments discreetly. In a coordinated operation, authorities seized 371.55 grams of mephedrone worth approximately Rs 37.15 lakh. The investigation began with the apprehension of an individual with 20.570 grams of mephedrone in the Vastral area.
The arrest led to the discovery of a wider network involving the dispatch of courier consignments to Bengaluru and other states. Further raids on a courier office revealed an additional 350.98 grams of mephedrone hidden in parcels. The total seizure from both operations amounted to 371.55 grams of mephedrone valued at Rs 37.15 lakh.
The police also confiscated two mobile phones, cash, and packaging boxes, bringing the total seized property value to Rs 37.28 lakh. The arrested individual, identified as Asuram alias Ashok Kumar Bhadu, hails from Rajasthan. Investigations are ongoing to trace other suspects involved in the trafficking network.
