Ahmedabad’s Sola Civil Hospital has taken significant steps to improve cleanliness and patient safety as part of the ‘Namo Swachhta Abhiyan’ initiated by the state government. The hospital has removed 79 kg of solid waste, started scrapping 159 unusable medical equipment items, and serviced 508 fire extinguishers. The campaign aims to reduce hospital-acquired infections through thorough cleaning and maintenance.

The hospital administration reported clearing 79 kg of solid waste from various departments and initiating the scrapping process for 159 unusable medical equipment items. Dr. Hemangini Patel, the Resident Medical Officer, highlighted the hospital’s efforts in cleaning, disinfection, and reducing unnecessary materials to prevent infections. Continuous monitoring is in place to ensure a safe environment for patients.

In addition to indoor and outdoor cleaning, the hospital has refilled or installed 508 fire extinguishers and conducted maintenance work on essential facilities. Repairs have been made to water taps, bulbs, ceiling fans, furniture, and medical equipment items. Special training on biomedical waste disposal has been provided to all medical and paramedical staff to maintain cleanliness standards.

The hospital’s commitment to reducing hospital-acquired infections is evident through ongoing cleanliness efforts, repair works, and staff training. Patients’ relatives have praised the hospital’s cleanliness and services, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a hygienic environment. The hospital’s focus remains on enhancing hygiene standards, infection control measures, and overall healthcare infrastructure.
