The AIADMK has finalized its candidates for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026, planning to compete in 167 constituencies statewide. The party’s selection process, conducted in three phases, has now concluded with the release of names for the remaining 17 constituencies. Notably, this final list includes candidates for crucial urban areas, especially in Chennai, where significant contests are anticipated.
The latest list unveiled by AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami covers key urban segments, addressing the absence of candidates in 12 Chennai constituencies from the previous phases. Prominent nominees in this final phase include P. Valarmathi (Thousand Lights), Gokul Indira (Anna Nagar), Adhi Rajaram (Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni), R. Mano (Harbour/Royapuram), and V.N. Ravi (Virugambakkam).
In a notable move, the Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar constituency has been assigned to the Tamil Maanila Bahujan Samaj Party, with Porkodi Armstrong contesting on the AIADMK’s symbol. Additionally, Abhishek Rengasamy will run as an Independent candidate supported by AIADMK in Egmore, alongside nominees in Alandur, Kolathur, and Alangudi constituencies.
The AIADMK’s final candidate list sets the stage for intense electoral battles, particularly in Chennai, where several closely contested races are expected. Noteworthy matchups include P. Chandan Krishnan challenging Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in Kolathur and Adhi Rajaram facing Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin in Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni.
