AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami initiated a forceful campaign in Tiruvallur district with the slogan “Save the People, Save Tamil Nadu,” criticizing the ruling DMK government. Palaniswami, at a public gathering in Kavaraipettai, accused the DMK of failing Tamil Nadu across all aspects, likening the state’s governance to a car without an engine, solely reliant on its allies for progress.
Palaniswami defended the AIADMK against critics, emphasizing the party’s victories over political opponents and questioning the double standards of those labeling the party as communal. He highlighted the DMK’s alleged neglect of farmers and agricultural laborers, claiming credit for pressuring the Centre to extend guaranteed employment days under MGNREGA.
The AIADMK leader also pointed out growing internal discord within the ruling alliance, citing demands for power-sharing from alliance partners like the VCK and the CPI. Palaniswami criticized the DMK’s financial management, accusing the government of plunging Tamil Nadu into substantial debt and warning of increased taxes to repay loans, further condemning the State’s escalating borrowing despite the formation of a fiscal monitoring committee.
Palaniswami concluded by expressing confidence in the AIADMK’s victory in the upcoming elections, promising to establish a new government in Tamil Nadu, urging the public to reject the current administration and restore effective governance.
