Ahead of the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections on January 15, 2026, Ajit Pawar, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, highlighted his party’s dedication to development. Pawar discussed the party’s manifesto priorities, addressing queries on alliances, governance, and national issues. He stressed the importance of voters evaluating leaders based on their actions.
Nearly 1,700 candidates are vying for the 227-ward BMC elections, crucial for future Maharashtra Assembly and Lok Sabha contests. The NCP unveiled its BMC election manifesto, focusing on inclusive development, transparent governance, and significant infrastructure enhancements to elevate Mumbai to a global city. Plans include constructing 500 kms of new roads, enhancing bridges, implementing AI-based traffic systems, and establishing economic hubs for job creation.
Despite political differences at state and national levels, the NCP and Sharad Pawar’s NCP (SP) allied for the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal corporation elections. In an exclusive interview, Ajit Pawar discussed various topics, including civic governance, infrastructure, alliances, and national security concerns. He emphasized the need for effective implementation of promises for urban life improvements.
