AJUP President and MLA Humayun Kabir expressed strong condemnation for the killing of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari’s personal assistant Chandranath Das in West Bengal. Kabir called for immediate action against the perpetrators and emphasized the need to maintain peace following the recently held elections in the state. He stressed the importance of preventing such acts of violence and urged swift arrest of those responsible.
Addressing the political tensions in West Bengal, Kabir highlighted the shift in the state’s atmosphere post the 2021 Assembly elections. He mentioned the past instances of violence against BJP workers by Trinamool Congress supporters and emphasized the need for maintaining peace and avoiding any further bloodshed. Kabir underlined the BJP’s commitment to peaceful conduct but warned of necessary actions if party workers are targeted.
Responding to the absence of 11 MLAs from a recent Trinamool Congress meeting, Kabir dismissed speculations about defections to the BJP. He clarified that despite ongoing political discussions, the BJP had not welcomed any Trinamool leaders into its fold. Kabir emphasized that the BJP had not extended invitations to Trinamool Congress members for joining the party.
Regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s meeting with BJP MLAs in West Bengal, Kabir acknowledged the BJP’s national prominence and widespread influence across various states. He highlighted the party’s strong presence and upcoming events, including an oath-taking ceremony on May 9 with the participation of Chief Ministers and the Prime Minister. Kabir praised the BJP as a significant national force with substantial reach.
In a lighter moment, Kabir expressed his willingness to host Prime Minister Narendra Modi and humorously mentioned his desire to treat him to ‘jhalmuri’. The AJUP Chief’s lighthearted comment added a touch of humor to the conversation, showcasing a more personal side amidst the serious political discussions.
