Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) National President and MLA Humayun Kabir criticized former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her recent visit to the Calcutta High Court regarding alleged post-poll violence. Kabir dismissed the visit as “pure drama,” claiming that no such incidents occurred after the elections. He questioned the allegations of post-poll violence and accused Banerjee of overlooking incidents that reportedly happened during her tenure in 2021.
Kabir labeled Banerjee’s High Court visit as politically motivated, aimed solely at garnering public attention. He emphasized that the visit was merely an act for show and would not yield any meaningful outcomes. According to Kabir, there were no casualties or incidents of post-poll violence, dismissing the entire narrative as theatrical.
Reacting to West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s announcement of ‘Vande Mataram’ to be sung in schools across the state, Kabir expressed support for the move. He highlighted the significance of the national song and slogan, stating that they are essential components of the country’s identity and should not face opposition. Kabir noted that ‘Vande Mataram’ has been traditionally sung in various educational institutions and public spaces, emphasizing that there should be no objections to the Chief Minister’s directive.
The statements from Kabir come amidst escalating political tensions in West Bengal concerning allegations of violence post-elections and discussions surrounding nationalism and educational policies in the state.
