Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav criticized the Uttar Pradesh government for the death of a 27-year-old software engineer, Yuvraj Mehta, in Noida. Mehta tragically lost his life when his car fell into a water-filled pit near a construction site in Sector 150 on January 16. Despite his cries for help, rescue efforts were delayed due to the lack of proper equipment and challenging weather conditions.
Yadav emphasized that the focus should be on the government’s failure to save the victim’s life rather than irrelevant details. He questioned why the authorities were unable to prevent the tragedy and highlighted the negligence that led to the incident. Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the case has filed a fresh FIR against five builders for environmental law violations.
The SIT, which includes three members, is gathering information from various departments of the Noida Authority regarding the circumstances surrounding the engineer’s death. The team is expected to submit its report to the UP government by Saturday. The FIR against the builders highlighted environmental concerns, including severe pollution and safety risks posed by the waterlogged pit near a public road.
