Bollywood star Akshay Kumar shared his perspective that a movie can be successful in theaters without needing major events. He highlighted the example of ‘Saiyaara,’ a film that performed exceptionally well despite lacking significant events. Akshay mentioned that the movie, starring Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday, connected with audiences through its music and romantic elements.
When asked about the type of films that thrive in cinemas, Akshay responded that a film’s success is ultimately determined by destiny. Referring to ‘Saiyaara,’ he emphasized that the film’s success was driven by its songs and romantic storyline rather than any major event. Despite lacking grand events, the chemistry between the lead actors resonated with viewers, leading to the film’s success.
Directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Yash Raj Films, ‘Saiyaara’ emerged as the third highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025 and the most successful Indian romantic film to date. Loosely inspired by the 2004 South Korean movie ‘A Moment to Remember,’ the project achieved significant box office success.
