New Delhi, Aug 15 (IANS) Physics Wallah founder Alakh Pandey on Saturday welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of free online coaching for needy students, saying that quality education should be accessible free of cost to every child in India.

Pandey took to his official X account and said, “I really appreciate Prime Minister’s Promise about Free online Coaching for all needy students. I have always believed that online is the only way to make quality education accessible to remote towns and villages. I want to see this happening on ground coz execution is the main part. Hon’ble Narendra Modi ji. I offer my unconditional support to Government for this. I don’t want any profits in return. Quality Education should be free for Every kid of India. Jai Hind.”

Prime Minister Modi, in his Independence Day address from the Red Fort announced that the Union government would provide free online coaching for various competitive examinations.

The Prime Minister said the growing competition surrounding coaching classes had become a major financial burden for middle-class and poor families.

He noted that many parents feel compelled to send their children to coaching centres out of fear that they would otherwise fall behind.

The Prime Minister said the Union government wanted to help families save the thousands of crores of rupees they spend on coaching every year.

He also stressed that young people should be able to remain closer to their families without placing an additional financial burden on them.

“Therefore, we have decided to provide free online coaching for various competitive examinations for our youth,” PM Modi said, adding that the country already has digital public infrastructure and highly talented teachers and educators.

The announcement comes weeks after youth-led protests over alleged examination irregularities were held in several parts of the country, with a prominent demonstration taking place at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.

During his address, PM Modi also urged the country’s youth to actively participate in the national Census.

“I am asking all of you for your help,” the Prime Minister said, encouraging young people to take the lead in the exercise.

He emphasised that even one or two hours contributed by each individual could become a significant source of strength for the nation.

PM Modi called for creating an “atmosphere of participation” in every household as India prepares to conduct Census 2027.
