Former England cricketer Sir Alastair Cook has suggested that young player Jacob Bethell should think about leaving Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL and return to play county cricket with Warwickshire. Cook believes Bethell, who shined in the recent T20 World Cup with a quick century, is not getting enough playing time at RCB and should showcase his skills in county cricket instead.
Despite Bethell’s impressive performance in the T20 World Cup, he has not had the opportunity to play for RCB due to stiff competition in the team. Cook, emphasizing Bethell’s potential as an opener for England, recommends that he should prioritize playing for Warwickshire in county cricket to enhance his chances with the national team.
Cook highlighted Bethell’s century against Australia as evidence of his ability to excel as an opener for England. He expressed concern that Bethell is currently not getting enough playing time at RCB and suggested that returning to Warwickshire to open the innings could be more beneficial for his career development.
