Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai expressed his strong belief in artificial intelligence (AI) during the ‘India AI Impact Summit.’ Pichai highlighted AI as a pivotal technology, calling it the most inspiring and significant platform shift of our era. He stressed the need for collaborative efforts between governments and industries to ensure that AI benefits everyone.
Pichai cautioned that positive outcomes from AI are not guaranteed and require responsible actions. He pointed out the scientific progress facilitated by AI, citing AlphaFold, a breakthrough in protein-folding by Google DeepMind. Pichai mentioned Google’s initiatives, such as cataloging DNA disease markers and investing in a full-stack AI hub in Visakhapatnam as part of a substantial infrastructure investment in India.
The Google CEO underlined the transformative impact of AI on the workforce, mentioning the automation of some roles, evolution of others, and the creation of new careers. He also highlighted Google’s commitment to training 100 million individuals in digital skills to help them adapt to changes driven by AI.
