Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu commended young Punjab Kings all-rounder Suryansh Shedge for his aggressive batting style and confidence in hitting boundaries during a recent IPL 2026 game. Shedge, known for his impressive performance in the 2024-25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, made a significant impact by scoring a quick 57 off 29 balls in only his second match of the season, boosting Punjab’s innings.
Rayudu highlighted Shedge’s ability to play big shots with confidence, citing his past match-winning knock in the Mushtaq Ali final. Despite entering the game with Punjab struggling at 36/4, Shedge displayed composure and partnered with Marcus Stoinis to build a crucial 79-run stand, turning the tide in Punjab’s favor.
Acknowledging the loose bowling support Shedge received, Rayudu emphasized the youngster’s capability to clear the boundaries effortlessly. Shedge’s aggressive approach was evident as he dominated the 14th over, taking on bowler Manav Suthar with a flurry of boundaries and sixes. Although his innings ended prematurely while facing Kagiso Rabada in the 16th over, Shedge’s explosive batting contributed significantly to Punjab’s total score of 163/9.
