The Ambubachi Mela, a significant Hindu religious gathering, ended as the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati reopened its doors after a four-day closure. Devotees flocked to seek blessings from Goddess Kamakhya following the completion of annual rituals.
Thousands of pilgrims lined up to offer prayers and receive sacred items like ‘Angabastra’ and ‘Angodak’ as the temple witnessed a surge of devotees, sadhus, and tourists from various regions. Elaborate arrangements were made by authorities to ensure the smooth conduct of the festival, including security, medical facilities, and traffic management.
The Ambubachi Mela, known as the “Mahakumbh of the East,” is deeply rooted in Shakti worship, symbolizing Goddess Kamakhya’s annual menstrual cycle. The festival’s conclusion marked the restoration of regular worship, attracting devotees seeking divine blessings and highlighting the cultural and spiritual significance of the Kamakhya Temple.
Officials reported a large turnout of devotees at this year’s Ambubachi Mela, reinforcing the temple’s status as a revered center of Tantric worship in the Northeast.
