Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh’s Sri Sathya Sai district is gearing up for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) flight testing center on Friday. The event will see the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, marking the commencement of various defense, aerospace, and drone manufacturing projects in the state.
A significant aspect of the occasion will be the exhibition and technology showcase of AMCA, which is India’s indigenous 5th generation stealth fighter program developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA). This initiative stands as one of the nation’s most advanced aerospace projects.
The event signifies a crucial milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s transformation into a key hub for defense manufacturing, aerospace innovation, and unmanned systems development. It aligns with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and the rapid indigenization of cutting-edge defense technologies, as stated by a release from the state government.
The exhibition will include scale models, mission simulations, avionics and systems displays, and interactive defense technology zones. Besides the AMCA program, Andhra Pradesh will witness the initiation of various significant defense manufacturing investments covering missiles, ammunition, energetics, defense propellants, and advanced systems manufacturing. These projects, with investments worth thousands of crores, are anticipated to create substantial job opportunities in the state.
The state will also spotlight its burgeoning Drone City ecosystem, showcasing companies engaged in autonomous systems, AI-enabled drones, UAV manufacturing, robotics, surveillance technologies, aerospace components, and drone R&D. By leveraging its industrial infrastructure, port connectivity, skilled workforce, and investor-friendly policies, the Andhra Pradesh government has been actively positioning the state as a preferred destination for high-technology manufacturing sectors. The upcoming event is poised to further solidify Andhra Pradesh’s position in India’s evolving defense and aerospace domain.
