Union Home and Cooperation Minister, Amit Shah, led a series of review meetings in Ahmedabad to evaluate the progress of development projects in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency. The discussions centered on plantation drives, infrastructure initiatives, public healthcare, and civic administration. By 2.30 P.M., Shah had conducted six meetings at the South-West Zone Office on Corporate Road in Jodhpur, Ahmedabad, with Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Das in attendance.
The meetings assessed the advancement of the ‘Green Lok Sabha’ program, which includes planned plantation activities across the constituency before the monsoon season. Additionally, the modernization efforts on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway were reviewed. Shah also examined the restoration and interlinking of ponds in the area and scrutinized development projects associated with the Gujarat Urban Development Company (GUDC) and Mansa municipality.
Separate meetings were convened to evaluate the performance and progress of public hospitals in the constituency and to oversee the activities of Akhand Anand and Sastu Sahitya Mudranalaya Trust. Two more meetings are scheduled for later in the day, where Shah will meet with individuals involved in the ‘Toy Collection Campaign’ and newly-elected councillors of the Ahmedabad Municipal Union (AMU) from specific Assembly segments.
Shah, who began a two-day visit to Gujarat, is set to continue engagements in Gandhinagar the following day. On May 17, he is expected to inaugurate a newly constructed fully automated milk processing and packaging plant at Dashela village in Gandhinagar district. The plant, built at an estimated cost of Rs 128 crore, initially processes 2.5 lakh litres of milk per day, with plans for future expansion to five lakh litres daily.
Officials from Madhur Dairy, affiliated with the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), anticipate that the expansion will enhance milk procurement and processing capabilities, benefiting dairy farmers connected to the cooperative network in the district. Madhur Dairy reported an average daily milk procurement of around 2.76 lakh litres during 2025-26.
