Union Home Minister Amit Shah led a high-level security review meeting in Jammu to evaluate the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting was attended by Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, and other senior military, police, and intelligence officials. This gathering comes amidst increased anti-terror operations resulting in the elimination of four Pakistan-native terrorists associated with Jaish-e-Mohammad after multiple encounters in the region.
The recent meeting marks the second security review session chaired by Amit Shah in a month. In a previous meeting on January 8 in Delhi, he emphasized the need to sustain counter-terror operations against terror infrastructure and financing. Shah reiterated the commitment to providing all necessary resources to make Jammu and Kashmir a “terror-free” zone at the earliest.
Following his visit to the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district, where he interacted with BSF personnel, Amit Shah commenced the meeting. Discussions included a review of ongoing anti-terrorist operations, the anti-infiltration grid, and strategies to counter drone activities from across the border. The focus remains on preventing terrorist infiltration along the Line of Control and the International Border.
Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, during his visit on January 14 and 15, also conducted a review meeting in Jammu. Amit Shah emphasized a mission-mode strategy with coordinated efforts among security forces to eliminate remaining terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir and prevent infiltration across the LoC and International Border.
