Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the West Bengal government and the ruling Trinamool Congress for changing the venue of the 9th International Santal Conference where President Droupadi Murmu was the chief guest. Shah accused the TMC government of disrespecting the President of India and violating protocol.
Shah highlighted the incident as a reflection of the deteriorating situation under the Trinamool Congress rule, emphasizing the government’s arbitrary actions that even targeted the President. He condemned the disrespect shown to the President at an event organized by tribal communities, labeling it as an insult to the nation’s democratic values.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed dismay over the controversy, stating that the disrespect towards the President deeply saddened those who uphold democratic principles and support tribal empowerment. Modi held the Trinamool Congress-led West Bengal government responsible for the situation, attributing the disrespect to the state administration.
