A day after Congress MP S. Jothimani criticized the party’s seat-sharing process within the DMK-led alliance, BJP leader S. Vijayadharani backed her claim, accusing the Congress of selling seats. Vijayadharani affirmed that Jothimani’s statement about seats being sold in the Congress is not new and has been a longstanding issue. She emphasized that such undemocratic practices of selling seats and selecting candidates must be opposed by the public.
Vijayadharani, who joined the BJP from Congress in 2024, highlighted that similar incidents had occurred in the past within the Congress party. She urged voters to reject parties engaged in the sale of seats and to not support such candidates. Additionally, she mentioned her willingness to contest elections if required by the BJP.
Jothimani expressed concern over the neglect of loyal party workers and criticized the allocation of seats, describing it as a betrayal of dedicated Congress cadres. She warned that if the trend of mercenary seat allocation continues, it could severely impact the Congress’s future in Tamil Nadu. The process of selecting constituencies for the upcoming Assembly elections has been criticized for its secrecy and lack of grassroots worker involvement.
