Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated the government’s commitment to establishing a robust border security grid through the ‘Smart Border Project.’ Equipped with drones, modern cameras, and advanced surveillance technologies, this initiative aims to fortify India’s borders. Addressing BSF personnel in West Tripura, Shah highlighted the importance of ensuring national security for achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047.
The Home Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts towards national development by 2047. Shah emphasized the necessity of a secure nation to realize this vision fully. He underscored the multifaceted challenges faced by India, including traditional threats like war and newer issues such as drug smuggling, human trafficking, and counterfeit currency circulation affecting the economy.
Acknowledging the critical role of BSF personnel in safeguarding borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh, Shah commended their dedication and commitment. He mentioned the upcoming ‘Smart Border Fencing’ initiative set to be piloted at select locations next year. Shah assured a comprehensive approach to border security, addressing various challenges posed by neighboring countries.
Referring to the distinct challenges posed by Pakistan and Bangladesh borders, Shah highlighted issues like drug smuggling, infiltration, and drone-based activities. He assured that the government is cognizant of the concerns faced by BSF personnel and their families, with measures in place to enhance their welfare. Shah also emphasized the government’s stance against demographic changes due to infiltration in certain states.
