Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah recently opened Madhur Dairy’s new automated milk processing and packaging facility in Dashela village, Gandhinagar district, Gujarat. The plant, built on 15 acres at a cost of Rs 128 crore, has an initial daily milk processing capacity of 2.5 lakh litres, expandable to five lakh litres. Shah, addressing attendees, expressed gratitude for their presence despite his delayed arrival due to the heat, emphasizing the plant’s role in bolstering the cooperative dairy sector and aiding livestock rearers.
The inauguration event witnessed Shah highlighting the significance of the project for dairy farmers in Gandhinagar district, tracing its roots to the cooperative legacy established by prominent figures like Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Tribhuvandas Patel, and Verghese Kurien. He commended Madhur Dairy’s growth from a modest cooperative venture in 1971 to a substantial dairy institution with a significant milk collection, processing, and distribution capacity today. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, also present, praised the cooperative ethos ingrained in Gujarat’s history and acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in advancing the cooperative movement through the “Sahkar Se Samruddhi” vision.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Patel lauded Madhur Dairy’s progress as a testament to the success of cooperative institutions in Gujarat, underscoring the integral role played by the union in fostering cooperative societies over the years. He highlighted the deep-rooted connection of Gandhinagar residents with Madhur milk, emphasizing the long-standing consumer cooperative society operating in the district. The event also saw the participation of various dignitaries, including legislative members, cooperative leaders, and dairy board representatives, along with women livestock rearers extending a warm welcome to Union Minister Amit Shah.
