Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the PM Family Care Tracker (PM-FCT) pilot project in Gujarat, aiming to oversee children’s well-being from birth to age 16 through a digital platform. This initiative, introduced in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency, focuses on enhancing welfare services for underprivileged families. Shah emphasized the system’s capability to monitor various aspects of a child’s development and provide timely alerts for necessary interventions.
The PM-FCT will track crucial stages of children’s growth, such as vaccination schedules and school attendance, ensuring prompt actions if any discrepancies are detected. Shah highlighted the platform’s ability to identify underweight or growth-deficient children for targeted support. Maternal healthcare will also be monitored from pregnancy to nursing, with children remaining under the tracker’s purview until they turn 16.
Shah revealed the integration of around 16 schemes from different state government departments into the platform, including initiatives like Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana and Mission Indradhanush. This consolidation aims to streamline benefits delivery and ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive their entitled support. The system assigns a unique digital identity to each child, facilitating the seamless distribution of benefits across various schemes.
The Home Minister emphasized the need for comprehensive monitoring of children’s well-being and expressed confidence in the pilot project’s potential to evolve into a robust monitoring system. The success of the initiative will be evaluated before considering further expansion to cover a broader demographic, addressing governance challenges and ensuring inclusive benefits delivery for all eligible individuals.
