Weather experts linked the situation to the activation of multiple weather systems, resulting in over 18 inches of rainfall in Ahmedabad, exceeding initial forecasts.
Union Minister Shah directed officials to minimize the rain’s impact on public life and maintain high alertness across government departments. He emphasized continuous monitoring of low-lying areas, immediate relief operations, and ensuring essential public services like healthcare and electricity remain functional. The local administration intensified efforts, including drainage operations, responding to public complaints, and real-time monitoring through a control room dashboard.
Residents were advised to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall, follow local advisories, and promptly report emergencies to government agencies. Union Minister Shah’s instructions led to the deployment of emergency response teams, clearing fallen trees, and ensuring rapid drainage of rainwater. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation actively managed waterlogged areas and urged residents to cooperate with the authorities during this challenging period.
